Easy Home Improvements to Put On your To Do List
Whether you're a keen DIY individual or just need to keep things rolling with home renovations, it's a perfect time coming up to summer to get those jobs done. Take care of the indoor jobs as it rains and then get out on the good weather days to do the garden work, and hopefully you'll be able to relax when the summer finally comes! If you're looking for some work inspiration that can make a major impact on your home then you're here:
It's one of those jobs that can take a while but when it's complete it looks so much better. You might be able to pay someone to come and do it but why spend money if you have all the equipment you need? Until you start painting, remember to plan your surface to achieve better finish and longer results. It's really important to make sure you get rid of dirt and any mildew, so if you have a lot of that you might want to consider using a pressure washer to get this removed. Applying a primer layer will also help protect the surface, meaning you should have a longer period of time before you need to repeat the job!
Replace artificial grass with herbs
Lots of people are switching from real grass to artificial grass in
their gardens for a number of reasons – Firstly, it is so low
maintenance as you will not need to mow it or treat it for moss, replant
grass seeds if a patch wears away etc. Also, it can look a lot nicer
and feel softer underfoot. If you have kids playing football etc. in the
garden then you will know what damage that can do! It might be worth
getting a quote from artificial turf installers but you might just as easily be able to do it yourself.
If you have wood kitchen cupboards then with a nice fresh coat of paint you can make them look like new. You could try a new paint, and remove the handles / knobs at a very low price for a totally new look. Only pick up some new cupboard handles from your DIY store and you'll be able to easily get fresh look kitchen cupboards.
Trekking upstairs
What was the last staircase you upgraded? You can refresh it with a small amount of work like a repaint or you can even replace your spindles with a new design, or sand down your balustrade to remove paint and instead provide a wooden finish. You could also take up your carpet and finish with a wooden staircase to make it look sleeker.
Pressure paving wash
Another quick job to do is to wash your outside area to clean filthy paving slabs and clear any dirt and debris on your walls and other areas. Whether you're going to have a few BBQs this summer, it will make a major difference to have your paving looking like new. If you don't own a pressure washer then you can borrow one, or even employ one. Instead, get a pressurized washing service to come round and do the job using their specialist machines and get the job done much quicker. Try to be careful when using a pressure washer with how much water you use-you can buy some that require less water. Consider of the charges on your water and the climate!
